Trim audio online with a waveform

The Audio Trimmer cuts an audio file to the section you want to keep. It is useful for removing silence, shortening a recording, saving a quote, or exporting a small clip from a longer file.

What the audio trimmer does

  • Select the start and end of the section you want to keep from one audio file.
  • Use the waveform handles and time labels to choose a range more accurately.
  • Export the selected section as MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, Opus, or AIFF.

How to trim audio

Upload one audio file, drag the handles on the waveform to choose the part you want, preview the selection, and export the trimmed file. If the clip starts or ends too abruptly, leave a little extra space and trim again.

What can this audio trimmer help you keep?

Audio Trimmer keeps a section you select from one existing audio file. It could be an answer from a long interview, an important point from a lesson recording, or a piece of music. Add the file, choose the start and end on the waveform, then export and download the clip without creating an account.

This page keeps one continuous range. The beginning and ending outside that range are left out of the exported clip, while everything inside it stays. It is not an editor for deleting several middle sections and joining the remaining parts, or a tool that automatically finds and removes pauses.

How do I select and download an audio clip?

  1. Choose one audio file and wait for the waveform

Click the file selection area above to choose audio from your device, or drag in one file. Wait for the file to load and the waveform to appear. This page processes one file at a time. Preparation time depends on the file, device, and browser.

  2. Drag the left and right handles to choose a section

Drag the left waveform handle to set the start and the right handle to set the end. Check the start time, end time, and clip duration below to see whether the range covers what you need. Waveform height is only a guide for locating sounds. Listen to confirm the content.

  3. Click Preview to check the beginning and ending

Listen to the selected section of the source audio and check that the first word or last sound is not cut off. Leave a little more room at the ends if needed, then listen again. Preview helps check content and boundaries. Check the downloaded file separately after export.

  4. Choose the output format

Output options are expanded automatically after a file loads successfully. The default output is MP3. Choose another listed format if needed, or use Hide Options to collapse the panel. This trimmer has no audio quality controls such as bitrate or sample rate selectors. If you are unsure about the format, check what the recipient or your next app needs.

  5. Export the trimmed audio, then download the result

Check the range and format, click Export Trimmed Audio, and wait for processing. Then click Download Trimmed Audio when the link appears. Check the clip's content and sound in the player you intend to use. Export again after changing the range or format. Save the result before replacing the file or closing the page.

Features for keeping one section of audio

Select a continuous section on the waveform

The left and right handles define what stays in the clip. To shorten a recording, leave the unwanted beginning or ending outside the selected range. You can keep one section of a file without working on a full audio project.

View the start, end, and duration of your selection

As you drag a handle, the page shows the current start and end positions and clip length so you can check the approximate range. These times describe the selection. Listen to confirm where the sounds actually start and finish.

Listen to the selected source section before export

Preview plays the chosen content directly from the loaded file so you can check a complete sentence or music section. It is not the encoded export, and it does not guarantee that the downloaded file will sound identical.

Choose a common output format for the clip

Options includes MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, Opus, and AIFF. This changes the export format of the selected section rather than converting multiple files in a batch. A format appearing in the list does not guarantee that every source file can be read and exported successfully.

Which audio sections might you want to keep?

Keep an important part of an interview or lesson

Select a complete answer, explanation, or point from a long recording. Use both the waveform and preview to find it, and leave a little room around the words so the exported sentence sounds complete.

Prepare a short explanation or voice sample

Keep a relevant section of an instruction, greeting, or narration test, then download the clip. Choose how to send it yourself if needed. This page does not create a public sharing link.

Shorten preparation time or an unwanted ending

If a recording starts with a microphone check or time spent getting ready, or ends with extra silence, select the main content manually. You choose the boundaries. The tool does not automatically remove every pause inside the recording.

Keep part of a music or sound file

Choose a section of existing music, ambience, or a sound effect for your own organization, listening, or later production. This page has no ringtone duration presets, fades, or settings for specific devices. Check the downloaded clip in the software you plan to use next.

What should I check before trimming and exporting?

  • Keep one continuous range from one file at a time

This page does not combine multiple files or delete several middle sections of one file and automatically join what remains. Before choosing a file and range, check that your task is to keep one section rather than edit multiple clips.

  • View the time labels and drag to change the selection

The start time, end time, and clip duration change with the waveform handles. They are labels, not boxes where you can type times. Drag the handles to adjust the range, then preview it. The times help describe the range, while listening tells you whether the content is complete.

  • Avoid cutting too close to speech

If the clip loses part of a word or ends abruptly, widen the selection and listen again. This page has no fades, volume controls, or content recognition to automatically create a more natural ending for speech or music.

  • Check preview and download separately

Preview plays the selected source section, while export creates a new file in the target format. Encoding may affect sound and file size. Listen again in the target player after downloading. Preview is not a check of the final encoded result.

  • An output format is not a guarantee of input compatibility

The eight listed formats are export choices. Reading the source still depends on its contents and your browser. A damaged or incompatible file may not produce a waveform. Check that the original plays normally, then try a shorter file or another browser.

  • Large files need time and device resources

Waveform preparation and export may take longer with long files, less available memory, or many open tabs. Try a shorter file first to check the workflow. If processing resources fail to load, check your connection and retry. Local browser processing does not mean fully offline use.

  • Download and save after export finishes

Export Trimmed Audio creates the result, and Download Trimmed Audio saves it to your device. Changing the selection or format invalidates the old result, so export again. A selection on the page is not a saved project. Download the clip you need before choosing another file, refreshing, or leaving the page.

How is Audio Trimmer different from KikiVoice's AI voice products?

KikiVoice's voice creation products include AI Voice Cloning for voice cloning, AI Voice Design for voice design, Text to Speech for turning text into speech, and AI Voice Changer for voice transformation. They serve different voice creation tasks.

Audio Trimmer is a separate free audio tool for selecting and exporting one section of an existing file. It does not generate voiceovers or offer voice cloning, voice design, or AI voice changing. Use the trimmer to keep part of an existing recording, or the relevant KikiVoice product to create a new voice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I cut an MP3 file online?

Upload the MP3 file, drag the waveform handles to select the part you want to keep, preview the range, and export the trimmed audio.

Can I remove silence from the beginning or end of a recording?

Yes. Move the start and end handles inward until the silent part is outside the selected range, then export the selected section.

Can I trim audio for a ringtone, podcast clip, or short quote?

Yes. The waveform view is useful for selecting short clips from longer recordings, including ringtone sections, podcast highlights, lectures, interviews, and quotes.

Does trimming change the whole original file?

No. The original file stays unchanged in your browser. The tool creates a new trimmed output file when you export.

Can I delete a middle section and join the beginning and ending?

This page keeps one continuous range. It does not delete a middle section and automatically connect both sides, or combine multiple files. Use Audio Joiner from the related tools section if you want several saved clips to play in sequence.

Does the trimmer automatically detect and remove pauses?

No. You choose the start and end to keep on the waveform, and pauses inside that range remain. See Silence Remover if you want to automatically process quiet sections according to their sound level. That is different from manually keeping one clip.

Which output formats are available, and can I change bitrate or sample rate?

The default output is MP3. After a file loads successfully, the output options are already expanded. Choose MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, Opus, or AIFF. You can collapse the panel with Hide Options and show it again with Options. This page has no bitrate, sample rate, or other audio quality controls. Choosing an output format does not guarantee that every source file can be read or exported successfully.

Does Preview play the final downloaded file?

No. Preview plays the selected source section directly so you can check content and boundaries. Export Trimmed Audio creates the download in the target format afterward. Encoding may change the sound and size, so check the download in the player you intend to use.

Do I need to install software or sign up before trimming?

You do not need separate audio editing software or an account. Choose a file from your device and select the range to keep on the waveform. When you finish, click Download Trimmed Audio to save the result.

Are audio files uploaded to KikiVoice servers?

Audio files are not uploaded to KikiVoice servers. Core trimming runs in your browser on your device. Page scripts and processing resources may still load over the network, so this does not mean fully offline use. Processing time and the experience with large files also depend on your device and browser.

Why is there no waveform after choosing a file, or why does export fail?

The source may be incomplete, the browser may not be able to read its audio, or device or processing resources may be unavailable. Check that the original plays normally, test a shorter file, and try another browser if needed. Check your connection if resources fail to load. If the source format is unsuitable, you can try Audio Converter from the related tools section.

Is fast processing guaranteed for large files or phones?

No. Waveform preparation, preview, and export depend on the file, device memory, and browser support. Phones, tablets, and desktops may perform differently. Test the workflow with a shorter file, keep the page open during processing, and check that the downloaded clip works for your task.
